Nestled on the fringes of Earlwood and tucked way along the Cooks River is Earlwood Children's Centre. ECC is licensed for 44 children per day and they are grouped in three rooms according to age. We currently enrol eight children under 2 years in the Gandini room, fifteen 2 to 3 year olds in the Rinaldi room, and twenty 3 to 5 year olds in the Malaguzzi room. Our rooms are named after key philosophers from the Italian area and early childhood programs of Reggio Emilia, who inspire our practice.
Our centre is unique in that we include an array of pets and we are fortunate to have a very large outdoor playground. Our pets include chickens, ducks, birds, fish, a rabbit and a dog, all of which contribute to children's wellbeing as well as learning and development as they care for and interact with the animals. We have also installed a number of large outdoor musical instruments through a government grant for quality learning environments.
