Christina's Story

It's 2028 and my husband Ben and I have lived in Canterbury since 2025. Why did we choose to live here?

We both work in the Sydney CBD – it's so easy to get to on the train.

We live in a fairly new four–storey unit block close to the Canterbury Town Centre and overlooking the lovely Cooks River. We go walking there all the time and see many people heading for the dog park. The design of our building is quite distinctive – I know it won an award for sustainability, with energy and water efficiencies, solar panels and even spaces to charge electric cars. But the most important thing for me is the village feel of my neighbourhood.

There's a lot of night life, and in the daytime there's cafes, festivals and markets. We never run out of things to do and all within walking distance.

We have a lively six–year–old daughter, so it's great to have open space and play facilities at nearby Tasker Park. My husband and I both do laps at the upgraded Canterbury Leisure and Aquatic Centre.

The City became a child–friendly City back in 2022, so we knew there would be lots of facilities and services available – our childcare centre is amazing!

I am no artist but I love the murals and colours that abound in the Canterbury Town Centre. It seems to me, it makes the place unique. I know it looks completely different to the Punchbowl Town Centre where my in–laws live.

I am proud to live in Canterbury. I tell all my friends this and would be happy to recommend Canterbury–Bankstown to anyone thinking of moving here.
