The night time economy action plan 2021-26 sets the framework for a vibrant, multicultural, safe and secure night time economy for the City of Canterbury Bankstown. The City is the 8th largest economy in NSW with an estimated GRP of $15.8 billion. It has the largest (and growing) population in NSW and, the second-highest number of registered businesses in the State. Approximately 20% of all employment in the City is linked to the nighttime economy with more than 7,000 local businesses trading and contributing.

The City of Canterbury Bankstown Economic Development Strategic Plan 2036 will guide how Council will promote and support its thriving centres. There is a pipeline of new and exciting game-changing projects on the way that will see our economy expand significantly over the coming decades while our population is projected to grow to half a million residents. Tens of thousands of new jobs will be created and an increased number of students will study across the City.

The City of Canterbury Bankstown is in the heart of greater Sydney with more than 360,000 people and is projected to grow to 500,000 people in the next 20 years. A City of this scale needs a sophisticated, considered plan to guide how it will grow and change – a plan that brings together all the critical elements that make a city and build an even greater place. Connective City 2036 will create opportunities for the people who live and work in the City. It focuses on better quality of, and access to, transport options, protection and enhancement of environmental areas and precious waterways, and a commitment to vibrant centres and quality suburbs. Connective City 2036 includes priorities and actions to achieve this vision for the City.
