ATO Concessions - What’s new for Small Business

Tax isn’t always a priority for small businesses, and ensuring your entitlements and obligations are in order before the end of the financial year is difficult, but there are plenty of avenues to help you get it right.

The Australian Tax Office (ATO) offers a number of resources that help you figure out what deductions you can claim, the concessions available to you and how to keep track of everything throughout the financial year best.

Tips to get you started:
  • Report all of the income you make through your business in your tax return;
  • To claim any deduction for the cost of running the business, the money must have been spent for your business. For more information, visit the ATO website; and
  • Know the concessions that apply to your small business and take advantage of them. Find out more ato.gov.au/concessionsataglance.
