Small Biz, Big Data

How small businesses can make the most of big data

With the forever increasing presence of digital technology in our day-to-day lives, there is a huge amount of data that can be collected about people. Large businesses have been using 'big data' to learn about their customers' behaviours, desires, trends and browsing or buying patterns.

With the help of affordable and accessible programs, such as Google and social media analytics, small businesses can now too use the power of 'big data' to improve their customers' experiences and boost their own bottom line.

Google Analytics
Google My Business
Facebook Analytics

Your Point of Sale (POS) and Customer Relationship Management software can also provide you with insights into your customers' behaviours, trends and even help you make service improvements.

Economic data can also tell the story about local economies and how they are changing. 'Canterbury-Bankstown's Economic Profile' can give you a lot of insights into our City, such as the current population, potential B2B clientele reach and other great insights.

What is a Companion Card?

The NSW Companion Card program <https://www.companioncard.nsw.gov.au/home> is for people with a significant and permanent disability, and have a lifelong need for care to participate in community events and activities. The Companion Card gives a person's carer free entry into participating venues and events.

What is an affiliate?

Affiliates are organisations, event organisers or venues that officially register to participate in the Companion Card program.

Benefits for affiliates include:

  • Having a simple, consistent and reliable method of identifying people with disability who require care to participate in activities and visit venues;
  • Assisting organisations to meet obligations under anti-discrimination laws; and
  • Providing an opportunity for businesses to demonstrate their commitment to social inclusion and access for people with a disability, and present a positive public image.

How to get involved?

If you are interested in becoming an affiliate of the program call the NSW Companion Card on 1800 893 044 or email affiliates.companioncard@facs.nsw.gov.au

Service NSW's Easy To Do Business program

Starting, running and growing a business is challenging enough without the added complications of red tape. Through our partnership with Service NSW, it is now easier to do business with a range of support services to help you navigate regulatory requirements, freeing you up to focus on the more important things.

The Easy To Do Business program helps business owners to tackle the time issues and complexities they face when starting or growing their business. It also aims to cut red tape, so entrepreneurs can focus on their business rather than bureaucracy.

Please note: Currently, the program is only available to cafes, restaurants and small bars, housing and construction businesses, retail, print and road freight transport businesses.
