Bangawarra is Darug for create or making and these works have been created by a group of Aboriginal Elders that live in the area.
This group has been creating ceramic works at the Arts Centre for the last three years, meeting on a weekly basis and enjoy working with clay and using their imagination to create new works. Both the Bankstown Arts Centre and Campbelltown TAFE have provided support for the development of these artists' works under the guidance of professional artists Diamando Koutsellis and Walter Auer.
Their collective work was exhibited at Sculpture by the Sea and other galleries including Kerrie Lowe and Shepparton Art Museum, as well as in public and private collections throughout Australia.
